Competitors: Please note all the details carefully in Final Instructions, especially regarding Parc Ferme, Scrutiny, Parking, and Trailer Park in and around the Luttrellstown Estate.
The first Club Event of the year takes place on 24th February, the Spring Lanes Endurance Trial.
With over 50 entries received to date, this promises to be a really good event, and an ideal opportunity to whet the Motorsport appetite for 2018.
We are running 7 different venues with 9 unique Selectives (most run more than once!), and we have a large requirement for Timekeepers and Stop Box marshals on this Event.
With no Stages Rally on this years Calendar, why not come out to work on the Endurance Trial instead? There are already over 25 Club members either competing or working on the Endurance Trial already, so please come out to support this really important Event for ALMC Motor Club.
Contact COC Raymond Scullion as soon as possible at 087-6187829, and you will allocated to a job straight away. Bring a friend also, timekeeping is relatively straightforward with standard Rally Clocks, its an ideal chance to show others what is involved and perhaps consider getting involved in Motorsport into the future.
Please click here to download the amended Spring Lanes Endurance Trial Regulations, which take into account details relating to Tyre types permitted.
Important Date Change: ALMC Club meeting will now take place in Snailbox Pub at Kilmoon Cross at 8 pm on Thursday 8th February, focussing on the upcoming Endurance Trial on 24th February. Club Stamp available on the night for 2018 Competition Licence Application Forms.

One of the suggestions made at the Endurance Trial Introduction Night, in particular aimed at Beginners and Novices, was to have some sample documentation on the web site, to prepare them for what to expect, so please find below images of documentation from the 2017 ALMC Endurance Trial. Simply click on the image to download a full pdf of the document.
On a wet and blustery night, we had a fantastic turn out for the first Introduction to Endurance Trials Information night, with nearly 70 attendees, travelling from Tipperary, Wexford, Kildare and Leitrim and closer to home, from Meath and Dublin, to learn more about this branch of Motorsport, and what is needed to prepare for, and take part in, Endurance Trials.
The evening was organised by Frank O'Donoghue, who gave a Powerpoint Presentation showing all the important aspects of what is required. This was followed by a pre-arranged demo Selective around part of the Luttrellstown Estate, which will be used (in reverse) on the event itself. Everyone returned then to the Clubhouse once again, for a Q and A session, which allowed the many newcomers in attendance to ask questions, mainly about car preparation, but also about timing and on-Selective requirements.
We will add the Powerpoint Presentation, and Sample Roadbook and Timecard pages, in the next couple of days, to allow budding competitors see what on-event paperwork actually looks like!
Thanks go to Frank and the staff of Luttrellstown for putting this fantastic evening together, and also to all those that travelled.
We hope to see as many of you as possible in Luttrellstown for what promises to be a great Endurance Trial!

WHAT TYPE OF CAR CAN I USE?
Endurance Trials are broken into 7 separate classes. The emphasis is to keep costs down for prospective competitors so you will see many competitors opt for cars such as the Toyota Starlet, Nissan Micra, Fiat Cinquecento, Fiat Sceicento.....whatever can be bought, begged or borrowed from the small ads pages!
The maximum engine size is 1400cc however, there will be competitors with bigger engined cars (Vectras, MX5's, 3 Series Compacts and Ford Escorts for example) - these cars are not permitted to be classified in the overall results but will compete for their own class and more importantly they will have a great day's craic!
The classes are:
Class 1A: Cars built to Endurance Specification up to 1000cc
Class 1B: Cars built to Endurance Specification between 1001cc and 1400cc
Class 2: Navigation Trial cars up to 1400 c.c.
Class 3: Navigation Trial cars from 1401 to 2000 c.c.
Class 4: Front Wheel Drive Retro type cars.
Class 5: Rear Wheel Drive Retro type cars.
Class 6: All MX5 Cars
There are a few basic Safety Modifications required to each competing car. The below is a basic list. Please see Appendix 35 of the MI Yearbook by clicking the link below for more information.
A reflective red warning triangle, first aid kit, tow rope and SOS/OK board must be carrried
Hi-Vis jackets for both crew members must be carried.
Full safety harnesses are mandatory for all competing cars. These can be of four point ‘Clubman’ type or the quick release ‘Aircraft’ harnesses.
Front windscreen of laminated glass.
Mud-flaps for all four wheels.
WHAT DO I NEED TO COMPETE
You will need a Motorsport Ireland Road National B licence (for Drivers) and a Rally Navigator licence (for Navigators). The form can be downloaded from the Motorsport Ireland website at http://www.motorsportireland.com/Standard-Forms/Competitors.aspx
The Driver will need to have a valid Road Licence as you will have to travel on the public road (while obeying the rules of the road!) to get between the competitive selectives. Note-all drivers must be IRDS/BRDS registered or no start - no exceptions to this rule.
Drivers will need to be on the Irish/British Rally Drivers Scheme (IRDS/BRDS) database. This is to ensure that you have third party road insurance cover for the non-competitive elements of the event.
You should familiarise youself with the rules of Endurance Trials which are in Appendix 35 of the Motorsport Ireland Yearbook (available on www.motorsportireland.com)
You need to submit an entry for the event. Entry forms are on the ALMC Website and cost €199. Entries are flowing in already so don't delay!! The max number of starters is strictly limited to 50 crews.

"It is with regret that the Directors and Organising team of ALMC Motor Club announce that it will not be running the Stages Rally event on the 15th July 2018.
In the original draft “reduced calendar” ALMC sought an alternative date to minimise the impact on the July date the club has endured over the past three years of too many rallies in the early June to end of July period. As this has not been an option, with the postponement of the implementation of the rallies committee plan, we have had to reconsider our options.
Following our AGM on Wednesday 6th December, the incoming Committee and Directors have opted to take a year out from our Stages Rally. This has not been an easy decision, as the Club has been organising the annual event since 1984.
Despite enthusiastic and committed sponsors being on board, a gap in finances still existed, which together with uncertainty in competitors’ commitments to rallying in 2018, meant that the decision to cancel at this point in time was the right one. Announcing the decision at this stage will enable Championship organisers, loyal competitors and all stakeholders to make alternative arrangements for 2018.
We believe it is in the best interest of the Club and its members in this difficult motorsport and financial environment. The team will concentrate their efforts to continuously support motorsport in 2018 and work towards the return of the Stages Rally in 2019.
